‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)’ IN NAGOYA

The complete works of William Shakespeare abridged

3 guys. 37 plays. 90 minutes. This June, London’s longest-running comedy comes to Nagoya! Produced by Nameless Media and Productions and featuring Michael Kruse, Kyle McGruther and Daniel McCoy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is a hilarious, fast paced and irreverent condensation of all of the Bard’s classic work. From Macbeth and Midsummer Night’s Dream to Romeo and Juliet and King Lear, we take them all on…in one way or another!

Those of you with an aversion to Shakespeare, don’t worry. You see, this is probably not the Shakespeare you remember from school … unless you had a particularly odd teacher who thought that Othello should be performed as a cheesy white-boy rap. Or that Titus Andronicus would be best served up as a cooking show that would make Jamie Oliver do a spit take. Or even that the complexity of Hamlet could only be properly rendered by doing the whole thing in under a minute, and then backwards … yes, backwards.

An internationally reknowned and critically praised comedy, The Complete Works will make its English-language debut in Japan, presented by Nagoya based media production company Nameless Media and Productions. They have a growing list of film and new media creations, including the award-winning documentary “Behind Forgotten Eyes” and the recent web series “English Teachers” (also featuring Michael Kruse), but the folks at Nameless have their roots in theatre. Thus, The Complete Works marks the first step of their return to the stage, and 2012 will see their first full season of theatre in Nagoya, including a production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in May.

A hilarious, hyper homage to one of history’s greatest playwrights, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) will remind you that brevity is indeed the soul of wit!
