Shopping Centres

For all your shopping needs we list some of the largest shopping centers / malls in the inner and greater Nagoya area.

Aeon Shopping Center (Atsuta)

About: Just 10 minutes walk south of Kanayama Station or walk eat fro 5 minutes getting off from Nishi Takakuru subway station (meijo line), will bring you to a huge 4 floor Shopping centre. Absolutely everything under 1 roof can serve your every shopping need. Clothes, shoes, books, accessories, watches plus a food court and fine restaurant choice make it at least worth a half day. Best of all, there is a huge food supermarket at one end (Jusco) which is simply a huge supermarket. Shops are open until 10pm, restaurants until 11pm and the supermarket until 12.

Comment: A Free shuttle bus runs every 30 mins from Kanayama station South exit, next to the Boston Arts Museum.  Either that or just a 10 minute walk. Avoid driving as parking is very difficult.

 

Aeon Shopping Center (Chikusa)

About: Just a few minutes walk from Tsurumai JR / Subway station brigs you to Chikusa Aeon. Not with the variety of Shops of Ozone or Atsuta but a quieter and more relaxing atmosphere make it popular with locals. A large Aeon Supermarket, Daiso and Starbucks stand out as the more popular of destinations.

Comments: Not part of the Aeon complex but conveniently located right next to Aeon is Pacific Sports Gym.  Although there is an Aeon supermarket, there is no Jusco shopping centre. The inside has been reformed and there is one of the best 100 yens stores in Nagoya on the second floor.

 

 

Aeon Shopping Center (Minami Odaka)

About: Located on the outskirts of Nagoya City in a town called Odaka, one of the newest of the Aeon Chain, “Minami-Odaka” was opened in April 2008 and an ajoining train station (linked by a walkway) was opened a few months later. Last year a Movie Theater complex was added to enhance its repuation. 3 levels of shops includes a sports gym located on the 2nd floor, a kids English School and Jusco department store with a huge supermarket on the !st floor. An excellent choice of restaurants ranging from Italian, Japanese, a Chinese all you can eat, as well as a food court (fast food option) will keep dad happy.

Comments: Easieest access is by train as Minami-Odaka station connects directly with the shopping centre. Watch movies after 8pm for 1000Yen!

 

Aeon Shopping Center (Ozone)

About: Possibly the largest Aeon complex in Nagoya, Nagoya Dome Aeon can be reached within a few mintes walk of the JR, Subway and Meitetsu Station. What makes this Aeon even more impressive than others is the sheer number of restaurants and cafes inside; one example being that their are 3 starbucks cafes within the complex!! Watch out though, just after a Dragons (Nagoya’s professional baseball team) game, the place can be flooded with people looking for a bite to eat. Try “dessert” forest, a themed area where you can enjoy sweets and cakes from around Japan.

Comments: Just 2-3 minutes walk away is the Ozone Metz shopping centre which includes Nitori (home furnishing), Uniclo and Eiden (Electrics).

 

Shanpia Port (from Kanayama Station 15 minutes on foot)

About: In Under 20 minutes walk from Kanayama you can find an out of the way, but by no ways hidden shopping center by the name of “Shanpia-Port”. Of the two floors, downstairs you will find a large “Feel” supermarket and Electronics store “Eden”. Make your way upstairs and there is a very large Daiso 100yen store, a Uniqlo, a barber, Shimamura (cheap clothes store), a large shoe shop, a novelty shop and a decent food court.

Comments: For those living close to the area getting there by bicycle is both easy and convenient.

 

 

Metz Ozone (5 minutes on foot from Ozone JR Station )

About: Located close to Ozone Station, Metz Ozone offers a complete shopping experience. Nitori is one of the most popular and reasonably priced home and living stores in Japan and can be found on the second floor. There is also a new Uniclo, a large Eiden electronics store on the first floor and A yamanaka supermarket also on ground level. A komeda cafe serves drink and a good selction of snacks and lunches.

Comments: Close to Nagoya Dome Aeon! Easy access and having a Nitori so close to a station is rare – take advantage of this!
