Sightseeing in Nagoya

Due to it’s importance during the Azuchi-Momoyama and Tokugawa periods with Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hidetoshi and Ieyasu Tokugawa all hailing from and performing duties in the area, Nagoya is blessed with a deep and significant history. Served by an excellent city bus and subway system getting around Nagoya and enjoying the wide choice of museums, parks and gardens is easy. Being so centrally located in Japan, Tokyo is just 1hr 30 minutes away by bullet train, Kyoto only 36minutes and Osaka within an hour. So, there’s no excuse not to come and check out what Nagoya has to offer and for those of you living here, come and check out what’s going  on in your city.

Nagoya Aquarium

Nagoya Castle

Nagoya TV Tower

The Nagoya TV Tower, the oldest in Japan, was built in 1954 and and stands 180 metres high. There are five main floors (1F, 3F, 4F, Sky Deck ( meters) and the Sky Balcony (100meters). Osu Kannon Temple is a one of Nagoya’s most popular temples located in the lively Osu/Kamimaezu area of the city. Originally located in neighbouring Gifu Prefecture, the temple was moved to its current site by Tokugawa Ieyasu back in 1612. Find out more…

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Set in vast greenery, The Zoo and Gardens feel a million miles away from the bustling city centre, but in fact they are only a 20 minute subway ride away from Nagoya Station. Atsuta Shrine

Founded almost 2000 years ago, Atsuta is one of the great Shrines of Japan, 2nd only in stature to “Ise shrine” found in Mie Prefecture. It is said to house the sacred imperial sword, one of the three regalia of the imperial family, the others being a sacred mirror at Ise and the sacred jewels in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Sky Promenade – Midland Square Building

Officially the tallest building in Nagoya and the 5th in the Japan, the Midland tower offers visitors a beautiful view of the city from its highest public viewing point. “The Sky Promenade Observation Deck”, is open-air and the all glass elevators that can propel you to the top of the tower in less than 40 seconds, must be experienced.
